Every couple of years I find myself craving a bit of change and evolution in my career. I have been working for myself for the past 2.5 years (never thought I would say that when I started!) and have been loving every minute of it. I’ve developed a portfolio of amazing bloggers I’ve had the chance to photograph, shot some incredible fashion and lifestyle campaigns and of course, fine-tuned my travel photography and blogging. The experiences I been lucky enough to be involved in get better and better each year – I’m so grateful for all the people who I’ve worked with and who believe in my photography and brand. Looking back at my old photography work, my past Instagram images and where my blog first started, it’s crazy to see how much my photography style has evolved. I feel that I have finally found my true style and personal brand that reflects my personality best, but who knows what the future holds, I hope I never stop continuing to grow and evolve as a professional.

As 2017 came to a close, I reflected on what I had achieved and started to look at where I could go with my work, what my next steps could be. I was in the midst of reading Jo Malone’s biography, which, by the way, I cannot recommend more. The realness of her story resonated so much with me and gave me the courage to realise that success can happen to anyone if you find your passion and work hard to achieve your goals (get yourself a copy if you’re about to start a new business!) In this day and age of wanting everything and wanting it now, I’m slowly realising that success takes time and that knuckling down and getting on with it is the only way you can get to where you want to be. I couldn’t agree more with the saying that people only see the tip of the iceberg but not the rest of the work underneath taken to reach the top.  From personal experience, my best advice to anyone starting out on their own: don’t stop. You will have days when you wonder why you ever started in the first place and want to throw the towel in, but don’t – your persistence will pay off.

Now, I’m sure you’re all wondering what I’m getting to with this post…. As much as I would love to tell you what I have up my sleeve, that will have to wait until I have fully launched in April, but I think you guys are going to love it! I have been putting a lot of my time into this project, which I think is the perfect next rung on the ladder for my career. It’s strange when you work for yourself, you have no one to give you your objectives and targets to achieve in the year, you have to set those for yourself. My personal target this year was to rethink my brand and see how I could move forward, which is exactly what this first quarter of the year I have spent doing.

Although I won’t be launching this new brand officially until April, I thought that I would give you guys a sneak-peak…. My blog and brand will turn a new page and be evolving from Aurora Stories to Victoria’s Stories. I know a lot of you might wonder why it was never Victoria’s Stories in the first place, but I do have my reasons. At the time of choosing a brand name, I felt that I wanted my blog to be almost a separate brand to my photography services. I wanted a name that reflected what I would photograph and write about (I chose Aurora because of it’s meaning of sunrise/light, and paired with Stories as I would be capturing Stories of natural light through my photography) but did not want it to necessarily be related to me as Victoria – I thought of it more as a magazine title than something personal to me. With time, I’ve realised, that my work and my blog are all intertwined. My role as a photographer and a travel blog writer are under one umbrella, which will now become Victoria’s Stories (officially launching in April!). So, even though I am dying to share more, I will keep it quiet until the day… If, however, you would love to be the first to find out what I have in store, you can leave your email right here and will receive notifications as soon as everything is live! I hope you are all as excited as I am – I can’t wait to see what you think of my new chapter!

Before I sign off and get back to finishing everything ready for the launch, I would like to take this chance to say thank you to each and every one of you who have read and supported my photography and blog over the years. It really means so much and gives me the drive to keep going. I wouldn’t be where I am without the encouragement, so thank you all so much for that! In addition, thank you to the bloggers who have worked with me and the brands who I have had chance to collaborate with. I am truly grateful to all of you, believing in people’s work is the only way they have chance to grow and succeed, so thank you again.

For now, guys, watch this space and please do leave your emails here if you’d like to be first to know what’s coming!
