Last week, you saw the iconic brown chiffon dress shot on the backdrop of Bastakiya, from my collaboration with the Butik, Dubai. Today, I’m glad to share the other two, totally different, outfits I chose from the collection, shot at the XVA Hotel & Gallery, Bastakiya.
Outfit #1 – This was all about the shirt. A design by the Korean label Big Park, I chose this jean-shirt for the interesting embellished collar and tuxedo feel. I decided to wear it buttoned all the way up, making sure the entire creation was visible. Styling it with cowboy style boots and jeans, I gave it a more country feel -bling with a country edge, cool!
Outfit #2 – This white top, I thought, was a completely unique piece – taken from a line called Cres. E. Dim, it had to be in one of the shoots. Away from any earthy, soft tones, and flowing curves and ruffles you found on the chiffon dress, this top is all about straight lines and sharp edges. B pairing it with beiges and golds, I tried to tone down the harshness of the white, but added a little bit of character with a vintage snakeskin box-bag. Hair up and back was the only way forward, I felt, giving this look a more futuristic feel.
What I loved most about my finds at the Butik, was their uniqueness. Not only are most of the pieces there one-off creations, they are designs from young, fresh and totally unknown fashion-designers. And if fashion is your true passion, what more could you ask for than purchasing something no one else owns or has seen before?
